Artifact 5.1
MCPS Professional Development Program: DNA Training Workshop
(Please click on the page to the left to see enlarged image)
Advances in scientific research demand that an effective teacher in any science discipline must be familiar with recent scientific breakthroughs for effective, high-quality science teaching.  The teacher's interest in and particpation in science meetings serve as an evidence of his / her professional development. In light of this, I participated in the Science Workshops / Seminars, including the recently held DNA Fingerprinting Seminar at Wootton High School, Potomac, Maryland.

I take my role as a team member and as a developing teacher very seriously. I related quite well to other members of staff, regardless of their national, racial and cultural backgrounds, and have the ability of working harmoniously with colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment. I participated in and contributed to deliberations at team meetings, departmental meetings, and school meetings. As shown in the picture on the right, I took and successfully completed MCPS-sponsored RD 50: Reading Across the Curriculum. I am concluding the HR17: Cultural Diversity in American Society. I also attended New Educator Orientation and several training workshops offered both within and outside my school. I am currently working towards my master's degree in Education in the evenings while working during the day as my students' "Teacher of Record." In addition, I belong to national and international scientific societies, as reflected in the list of my publications.
